Metrosideros Carminea

This rata has small rounded leaves when young, changing to a larger more pointed form when flowering stage is reached. Crimson flowers smother the plant for a short but spectacular show in spring. Young foliage is frost sensitive. When Crimson rata is cutting grown from mature plants the resulting plant forms a shrub rather than a climber. Can be grown on the coast.
