Frequently asked questions

General
Do you sell to the public?
Yes, but please be aware that due to being a busy wholesale nursery – we do not have the infrastructure in place to accomodate a retail environment. Please have a detailed list of the plants you require and we will provide you with their locations in the nursery. Prices are the same for both wholesale and retail purchases.
Where is your nursery?
We are located in the sunny Hawke’s Bay of the North Island!

56 Ulyatt Road, Meeanee

Napier, Hawke’s Bay

I'm not happy with my plants - can I get a refund?
We do our best to ensure the product that leaves our nursery is of a high quality. If we feel that a variety you have requested is not up to standard, then we will suggest supplying you with a photograph for you to make the decision yourself, or we will offer appropriate substitutes. If you are disappointed with the product you have received then please notify us immediately via email with clear photographs attached. In most cases we are able to come to an agreement by supplying either replacements, a discount, or a full credit to your account.
Do you do free quotes?

We sure do! We aim to get a response to you within 48 hours.

Freight
Do you deliver nation wide?
Yes, we sure do!
Do you deliver to rural addresses?
Yes, we deliver to all locations within New Zealand. Rural deliveries will incur an extra cost priced at a minimum of $37.00 per order, or $2.50 per kilometre for plants up to PB8/5L. Plants of a larger grade will be priced at $3.50 per kilometre.
How much will freight cost?
This will vary depending on the number of plants you purchase, the dimensions of your combined order and where in New Zealand you are located.

How long will it take to get my order?
This will vary depending on your location and the size of your order. On average, expect between 1-2 days for North Island deliveries and 3-4 days for South Island deliveries.  We aim to dispatch all orders early in the week to avoid plants being left at freight depots over the weekend. The more notice we get in advance, the easier it will be for us to pack and send your order early in the week. Please allow an additional day for rural addresses.
What if my plants arrive damaged?
We take great care in the packaging of our orders to ensure they reach you in the same condition they left our nursery. If your plants arrive damaged then we urge you to take the following steps:

1. Refuse to sign for them – If the driver insists on a signature then please write “STI” (Subject to Inspection) in conjunction with your signature.

2. Email us as soon as possible a list of what has been damaged with clear photographs attached.

3. If the above steps are followed and the right for a claim is established with the carrier, then we will supply replacements for your damaged plants – subject to availability. If replacing the damaged plants is not possible then we will provide a credit to your account.

Can I organise my own freight?
Absolutely! Just please let us know when you place your order.
Do you use your own trucks?
No, we use national freight companies. We will evaluate your order and choose the cheapest and most economical option that best suits the specifics of your order.
Can I pick my plants up from your nursery?
Yes, you can. With enough notice we can organise your order and have it ready for you to pick up at a time that suits you. If you do not need your order until a later date, then we are happy to hold it for you.

Payment
Why can't I buy plants through your website?

Because we have such an extensive variety of plants, of which are always in a constant state of change – it makes it near impossible to maintain an accurate storefront on our website. For this reason we encourage you to view our Monthly Trade list, or send an email to sales@midlandhort.co.nz with any queries regarding pricing and availability.

Do I have to have an account with you?
No,  we sell to anyone and everyone. We do require first time buyers to pay up front prior to dispatch. If you are a business and would like to apply for a credit account with us, then please send an email to sales@midlandhort.co.nz with your request.
Can I pay via internet banking?
Yes, internet banking is our preferred form of payment. Once you have made a purchase with us, you will be sent an invoice with our bank account details attached. Please reference your invoice number when paying via internet banking.
